Overview
The Resource Wars were fought from 2180 to 2200 over the remaining fertile land and clean water after the Great Drought.
Origins
The Resource Wars followed the Great Drought. By 2180, prolonged crop failures and water shortages had made the remaining fertile land, wells, reservoirs, and filtration infrastructure essential strategic assets.
Settlements and emerging powers fought to secure those resources and the routes needed to distribute them.
Consequences
The wars lasted until approximately 2200. They weakened or destroyed communities that could not defend their supplies and concentrated power among fortified settlements, resource barons, armed factions, and surviving vault cities.
The conflict also reinforced several conditions that define the present:
- Clean water is inseparable from political power.
- Trade routes require protection and negotiated access.
- Independent settlements remain vulnerable to larger powers.
- Working Pre-Crash infrastructure can change the regional balance.
The Age of Scarcity
The end of the Resource Wars did not restore the old world. It marked the beginning of the Age of Scarcity, when a harsher network of settlements, traders, and regional powers became the accepted order.
In 2210, the wasteland is still shaped by the borders, monopolies, and survival economies that emerged from these conflicts.
