Overview
The Arena District is Bonetown’s center of public competition and spectacle. Its Fighting Pits host ranked, auto-resolved matches where registered fighters compete for credits, reputation, and access to stronger opponents.
Arena combat became available in version 0.23.
How to enter a fight
Visit Gutter Glee in the Pitmaster’s Office beneath the spectator stands between 08:00 and 19:00. He handles fighter registration, matchmaking, and the available match cards.
From the arena interface, the player can:
- Select an eligible fighter.
- Review available opponents and match details.
- Prepare equipment and choose a strategy.
- Pay the selected tier’s entry fee.
- Review the result and any injuries afterward.
Entry costs and payouts
The entry fee is the current arena stake; there is no separate configurable wager. The fee is deducted when the contest begins. A victory pays 180% of the entry fee, which represents double the stake minus the arena’s 10% house cut.
| Tier | Division | Opponent weapons | Entry fee | Victory payout | Net gain after fee | Injury risk | Fatal risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Crawlers | Unarmed | 50 credits | 90 credits | 40 credits | Minimal | None |
| 2 | Breakers | Blunt | 100 credits | 180 credits | 80 credits | Low-Medium | None |
| 3 | Cutters | Blades | 200 credits | 360 credits | 160 credits | Medium-High | Low |
| 4 | Bleeders | Heavy weapons | 500 credits | 900 credits | 400 credits | High | Medium |
| 5 | Blood Throne | Any weapon | 1,000 credits | 1,800 credits | 800 credits | Severe | High |
On a loss, the entry fee is lost. The current fight-resolution system awards credits and ladder progress; XP, scrap, and reputation values exist in the tier data but are not currently granted after a win.
Current opponents
The active arena roster contains 14 named opponents. The match card selects one valid opponent for the chosen tier using the current day, weapon rules, ladder position, and the player’s fighter rank, so every opponent in a division may not appear on the same fight day.

Rankings and progression
Fighters climb Bonetown’s arena rankings by winning matches. Higher standing unlocks tougher opponents and supports progression tied to Marcus Cross, whose authority overlooks the Fighting Pits from Cross’s Balcony.
Arena performance also contributes to a fighter’s reputation and value within Bonetown.
Every fighter begins with Crawlers unlocked. Winning at the fighter’s highest available tier unlocks the next division. Previously unlocked lower tiers remain available. Bleeders and Blood Throne include approval or invitation gates in their tier rules, though those story checks currently pass automatically.
Fight-day schedule
- Fight day occurs every third in-game day; the first new-game fight day is day 3.
- The player’s stable may enter only one contest per fight day.
- Starting a contest consumes that fight day and resets the countdown.
- The opponent selection for a tier is deterministic for that day, subject to ladder and fighter-rank filtering.
Fighter eligibility
A fighter cannot enter a match while:
- Seriously injured.
- Assigned to another task.
- At 80 or more trauma.
- Already used in the stable’s contest for that fight day.
- Attempting a locked tier or a tier whose fee the player cannot afford.
Major arena injuries may bench a fighter until they recover. Doc Meat treats wounded combatants at the nearby Stitches Den.
