Overview

Renegades Vault factions include current build groups around Dustmere and Bonetown plus planned regional powers in the Rust-Belt and Verdant Veil.

Current build factions and gangs

Dust Runners

The Dust Runners are caravan couriers who move supplies along wasteland routes. In The Lost Caravan, Rheva asks the player to investigate a missing Dust Runner caravan that Dustmere Rest depends on for supplies. Dust Runner route marks also identify hidden supply caches during exploration.

Baron Marcus Cross’s Empire

Baron Marcus Cross rules Bonetown through guards, licensed operators, and control of the settlement’s gates and arena. The Yard-Dogs are his security force: Hawk and Crow enforce entry requirements at Bonetown Gate, while other affiliated NPCs operate under Cross’s authority or protection.

Ring Keeper Gang

The Ring Keeper Gang operates in Bonetown’s Slums. Its enforcers demand payment for passage through gang-controlled streets and attack players who refuse. The gang remains beneath Cross’s wider authority, paying tribute to avoid being removed by Bonetown’s enforcers.

Gameplay impact

  • Dust Runner activity drives The Lost Caravan quest and exploration clues.
  • Cross’s organization controls access to Bonetown and protects affiliated NPCs.
  • Ring Keeper enforcers create toll-or-combat encounters in the Slums.

Planned regional powers

These groups are established in the World Bible but should be read as planned or lore-facing unless their locations, quests, or NPCs are available in the current build.

Rust Haven network

Rust Haven is ruled by Baron Jason Chen and organized around salvage, mechanical labor, blueprint knowledge, and Pre-Crash technology restoration. Its wider faction role belongs to the Rust-Belt, where technical skill and efficiency carry political weight.

Scrapyard information network

The Scrapyard is tied to Baron Viktor Petrov, masked emissaries, black markets, and information control. Its faction identity is less about open force and more about secrets, leverage, covert trade, and knowledge that arrives incomplete on purpose.

New Eden authority

New Eden’s power comes from records, permits, enforcers, filtration infrastructure, and clean-water control. It is the strongest civic authority in the Verdant Veil and sits above many regional water and trade disputes.

Oasis water cult

Oasis is ruled by Baron James “Water-King” Martinez and organizes authority around a rare freshwater spring, ritual purity, water testing, and rationing. It is planned as a major Verdant Veil counterpoint to New Eden.

Sulfur Bleed gangs

The Sulfur Bleed is not ruled by a chartered settlement. Raider gangs and Fringe-Gangs dominate the toxic fringe, making the region unsafe, poorly mapped, and outside normal caravan authority.
