Overview

The Chain Post is a fortified holding and transfer yard in the Bonelands. Built from scavenged timber and iron, it sits beyond Dustmere Rest along a rutted wagon route and serves as a controlled stop in the region’s trafficking network.

Tall posts, chain lines, cage wagons, and a raised watch platform define the compound. The yard is run quietly and methodically: handlers inspect arrivals, guards watch the perimeter, and Neil Chainwise conducts business from the command hut.

How to discover the Chain Post

The Chain Post can be discovered through a one-time World Map exploration event after Dustmere Rest has been found. When the discovery event concludes, the location is marked on the map and becomes available to visit.

The discovery, Suriya purchase, and dedicated-buyer contract state are saved with the game. Starting a new game resets those Chain Post milestones.

Areas or sub-locations

  • Outer approach: A wagon-worn trail crossing the open Bonelands toward the compound.
  • Transfer yard: The central holding area, surrounded by posts, cages, handlers, and perimeter guards.
  • Watch platform: Brask Lockjaw’s elevated position overlooking the yard.
  • Command hut: Neil Chainwise’s office and the center of the Chain Post’s business.

NPCs

  • Neil Chainwise: The Chain Post’s transfer boss and principal business contact.
  • Brask Lockjaw: A cage guard who watches the yard and directs visitors to Neil.
  • Suriya: A captive encountered at the Chain Post who can be recruited as an early Vault companion.

Neil and Brask each have distinct first-visit and return-visit conversations. Neil can offer a private, optional assessment during the first visit; its mature details remain in the age-gated game.

Quests

  • Chain Post Order: Neil’s first buyer order asks for any Grade C companion. Use the existing selection panel to choose a qualifying Vault companion; the transfer pays its live appraisal value, removes it from the Vault roster, and completes the order. The order has no deadline and can be completed before or after Finding Mira.

Services

The Chain Post is a specialized story and trade location rather than a general settlement. Neil handles its business, while Brask acts as its guard and information contact. Neil does not operate a generic companion shop: Suriya is the post’s only featured purchase. Declining her does not remove the option to purchase her later or alter Kyra’s storyline.

Dangers

  • The compound is guarded and designed to prevent escape.
  • Brask is combat-capable and closely monitors visitors.
  • The Chain Post participates in the Bonelands’ trafficking network.
  • The exposed route from Dustmere Rest offers little shelter.

Lore

The Chain Post turns movement through the Bonelands into a controlled trade. Its cage wagons, inventory checks, and guarded holding areas show how organized exploitation operates beyond Bonetown’s walls. The camp also creates a direct link between Dustmere Rest’s surrounding routes and the buyers working under Bonelands power brokers.
